Fulbright-Kalam Climate Scholarship Scheme

The President of the PM-Prime Minister of the Republic of India and the USA-United States of America developed U.S.-India Climate Scholarship Scheme to create long-term capacity to address climate change related matters in both countries.

In implementation of the Joint Statement, the Government of the USA-United States of America and the Government of the Republic of India – desiring to promote further common understanding between the two peoples by a wider interchanges of knowledge and professional abilities – intend to associates to build long-term capacity in the United States and India by engaging scientific and technical research scholars from both countries related to climate research and education through the Fulbright-Kalam Climate Scholarship Scheme.

USIEF Organised the Fulbright-Kalam Climate Scholarship Scheme on behalf of both the governments.

Eligibility Criteria for Fulbright-Kalam Climate Scholarship Scheme 2018

Educational Qualification

These fellowships are for pre-doctoral level research. Candidates with Ph.D. degrees or those at the final stage of Ph.D. thesis submission will not be considered.

Scholarship Application for Following Fields

Doctoral Research: These Scholarship Scheme are manufactured for Indian scholars who are enrolled for a Ph.D. at an Indian institution. These Scholarship Scheme are for 6th to 9th months.

Postdoctoral Research: These Scholarship Scheme are manufactured for Indian faculty and researchers who are in the early levels of their research careers in India. This Scholarships Scheme will giving chance to skillful faculty and researchers to strengthen their research capacities. Postdoctoral fellows will have access to some of the finest resources in their areas of interest and will help build long-term collaborative relationships with U.S. faculty and institutions. These Scholarships Scheme are for 8th months to 1 Year.

Fellowship Affiliation

The selected Applicants will have affiliation with one U.S. host institution during the grant. USIEF strongly recommends all applicants to identify institutions for affiliation and correspond in advance with potential host institutions. If you have a letter of invitation from a U.S. Universities/institution, please include it as a part of applicant’s online application. The letter of invitation should indicate the time period of your visit, preferably with dates.

Grant Benefits of Nehru Scholarship Scheme

These fellowships provide J-1 visa support, round-trip economy class air travel between India and the U.S., a monthly stipend, Accident and Sickness Program for Exchanges per U.S. Government instructions, a modest settling-in allowance, and a professional allowance.

In case of postdoctoral research grantees, and subject to availability of funds, a dependent allowance and international travel may be provided for one accompanying eligible dependent provided the dependent is with the grantee in the U.S. for at least 80% of the grant period.
