Post-matric Fellowship for students belonging to the minority communities

Post-Matric Scholarship Aim

The intention of the Programme is to reward fellowships to deserving candidates belonging to economically weaker sections of minority community so as to give those better opportunities for higher qualification, increase their rate of achievement in higher education and enhance their employability.

The fellowship is to be awarded for studies in India in a government or private higher secondary school/college/university, including such residential institutes of the Government and eligible private institutes selected and notified in a transparent manner by the State Government/Union Territory council concerned.

Eligibility Criteria for Post-Matric Fellowship

Fellowship will be awarded to the candidates who have secured at least 50% marks or equal grade in the previous final exam and the annum salary of whose guardian/parents from all sources does not exceed Rs.2.00 lakh.

Scholarship Distribution

Belonging to the minority communities have be modified as MCUS-minority communities under Section 2 (c) of the NMCA-National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.

The administer of Fellowship among the Union Territories/ States will be made on the basis of population of the above modified UT-Union Territories/minorities in the States of Census 2001.

Earmarking for Girl students

30% of fellowship will be appropriate for girl candidates. In case sufficient number of eligible girl students are not available, then the balance earmarked scholarships may be awarded to eligible boy students.

Selection Procedure

Various fellowship for ST and SC, there are a fixed number of fellowships for minorities is small and limited. Candidates from Below Poverty Line-BPL families, having the low salary shall be given preference in the ascending order.

Scheme Implementing Agencies

The Programme will be implemented through the State Government/ Union Territory provision.

Pattern of Financial Assistance of Scheme

100% funding will be given by the Central Government to the State Government/Union Territory provision.
