The CSFP- Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan is objective at candidates of Commonwealth countries who can make a significant support to their home country after the completion of a higher education scheme in the UK.

This is a source of funding made available to all Commonwealth countries by the Commonwealth Scholarships Commission.

Commonwealth Shared Scholarships are for candidates from least developed, low, and lower middle income Commonwealth countries, for full-time Masters Study on selected courses, jointly supported by UK universities. These scholarships are funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID).

Stages of Courses

1 year Taught Masters courses or equivalent degree

Doctoral degree of up to three/four years’ time period.

The Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan is a yearly programme made available to all the Commonwealth countries by the Commonwealth Fellowships Commission. In India, this is jointly managed by:

Commonwealth Scholarships Commission the British Council

Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU)

Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.

Commonwealth Scholarship Covers

Economy return international travel.

Adequate maintenance and other allowances.

Tuition fee.

Commonwealth Scholarship Subject Covered

Engineering and Technology

Science (Pure and Applied)

Agriculture

Humanities and Social Sciences

Commonwealth Scholarship Duration of study

Awards are tenable normally for one year, and up to two years in exceptional circumstances.

Awards cannot be extended or renewed. All Commonwealth Shared fellows are need to return to their home country immediately on conclusion of their course. No allowance will be provided to postpone the homeward airfare, except where a fellows has saved an offer of PhD study in the UK with funding for three full years of study from a university or recognised scholarship body. In such cases, if the Shared fellowships host college/university agrees, the CSC- Common Services Centers will agree for the fellows to remain in the UK.
